about

Classic Beats: Dye Ode marks two years since the first Classic Beats release, and begins the third. The title is a pun on diode filters because this release focuses on exploring their character. I've found some diode filters to have more distinctive character than others, however as with all filters it depends on what you are sending through them. On some of these drones multiple filters were mixed together for the final output with the diode filter(s) imparting the most character, while on others the final filter in the signal chain was a diode filter, giving it the last word in how the drone would sound.

The track titles are different dyes, and were chosen per my usual titling scheme which is mainly about the look, sound, and/or feel of a word. While the track titles weren't chosen according to that dye's particular color, I would be interested to hear if listeners have synesthetic responses to these drones that are color-related.
