about

Revisiting the vernal stream on the mid-state trail near Crow Hill had been on my list for some time, and spring 2018 I was able to get back there. For this recording I worked with hydrophones, in contrast to the microphone recordings of the stream on Crow Hill Flow scutopus.bandcamp.com/album/crow-hill-flow. Similar to the Coonamessett River sound map project I'm working on, this one track fades from one recording site to the next, as you sonically travel downstream.

I had timed the trip just after a rain storm, and it still hadn't fully tapered off when I arrived. The hike to the stream was a slog, soggy, and exhausting, but I'm pleased with the recordings. I recommend bringing a change of socks and shoes if you go on such an adventure: it made the drive home comfortable.

I may revisit this location during another season to document its relative calm compared with its spring torrent.

This release contains copious bonus materials in the form of photographs and video taken of the stream while recording the audio.
